This monograph is dedicated to The Oval, the speed skating Arena at Lingotto in Turin, Italy. Along with the Hockey 1 Palasport, a 100 million Euro venture by Arata Isozaki and Pier Paolo Maggiora, and the refurbishment of Franco Levi's original 1961 Palavela, the Oval stands as one of the "chefs-d'oeuvre" of the Turin Winter Olympics. It was designed by Alessandro and Pino Zoppini, specialists in sports and recreational architecture, and one of the largest and most important architecture and engineering firms on the international scene, with bases in the USA, Canada, Europe and Mexico. |
