Bev (B.A.) Thurber is an independent scholar based in Evanston, Illinois. Her previous publications include new editions of historic skating books and journal articles on subjects as diverse as historical linguistics, Scandinavian literature, and fluid dynamics.

She wrote in addition the book Skates Made of Bone, a History (2020) and made a replica of bone skates. She then tested them and made a video of it.
