E. Ulrich maakte schaatsen overeenkomstig het model dat H. Deiour uit Darss aan de Oostzeekust van Duitsland vervaardigde voor vissers op de Oostzee. Mogelijk was Ulrich ook smid in die plaats of omgeving.
Zijn schaats was ca.43cm lang, de krul 1,5cm breed en het schaatsijzer 0,5-0,6cm breed.
