Fritz Wolff had aanvankelijk uitsluitend een groothandelsfirma, maar richtte in 1865 de Fritz Wolff Stahl- und Eisenwaarenfabrik op.
Fritz Wolff was vanaf 1865 dus zowel groothandelaar als producent, mogelijk ook van schaatsen.
Hij had een voorbeeldboek met onder andere schaatsen ‘Musterbuch von Fritz Wolff in Gräfrath bei Solingen’, datering ca. 1860-1870.
