Beschrijving
Zoon van boer Murk Watzes Bottema uit Poppenwier. Watze wordt zelf smid en vestigt zich in 1892 als zelfstandig smid in Reduzum, waar hij de smederij van Sijtze Eppinga in de Hoofdstraat overneemt. Bottema maakt hier ook schaatsen. Hij vraagt op 10 februari 1902 in de Leeuwarder Courant 'een ongehuwde snidsknecht (schaatsenmaker)'. In juli 1910 wordt hij smid in het naburige Wytgaard.
